Every person in your workspace has one role. The role decides what they can see and change.
Built-in roles
| Role | Good for | Can see |
|---|---|---|
| Admin | Owners and office managers | Everything, including settings, billing and payroll |
| Finance | Accountants and finance staff | Invoices, payments, expenses and reports. Payroll only if an Admin also gives payroll access |
| Manager | Project leads and team heads | Their own projects, pipeline and team; approves their team's time, leave and claims |
| Employee | Everyone else | Their own tasks, time, attendance, leave, claims and payslips |
"Their team" means the people who report to them. Set this under Team โ โฏ โ Change role, manager or access.
Payroll access is separate
Salaries are sensitive, so seeing them needs payroll access as well as the right role. Only Admins can give it, person by person.
Making your own role
- Go to Team โ Roles and permissions and open the role closest to what you want.
- Click Make a copy and give it a name, like "Sales lead".
- For each area, choose what the role can see, can change, and whether it can approve.
- Click Save changes.
The Admin role can't be changed, so there's always someone who can fix settings. Your workspace also always keeps at least one active Admin.
