Record a payment
- Open the invoice and click Record payment.
- Enter the amount received, the date, how they paid and a reference (for example the UTR number).
- Click Record payment.
If the client paid part of it, the invoice shows Partly paid with the balance still due. Record each payment as it arrives.
When the client deducts TDS (India)
Many Indian clients deduct TDS, often 10% under section 194J for professional or technical services, and pay you the rest.
- Tick The client deducted TDS.
- Enter the TDS amount (Use 10% of the taxable value fills it in) and choose the section.
- The amount received is what reached your bank.
The invoice is then fully settled. TDS is worked out on the value before GST.
Later, when the client sends Form 16A, tick Form 16A received against the payment. This helps you claim the TDS in your income tax return.
Made a mistake?
