Create a project
- Go to Projects and click New project, or open a client and click New project there.
- Give it a name, choose the client, and choose how you'll bill:
- Time and materials: you'll invoice the hours worked.
- Fixed price: you'll invoice agreed amounts, usually as milestones.
- Retainer: a fixed amount every month.
- Not billable: internal work; no client needed.
- Optionally set dates, a budget in hours or money, the project manager and the team.
Only people on the project team can see it and be assigned its tasks.
The board
Each project has a board with columns: To do, In progress, In review, Done.
- Add a task: click Add task, or the + at the top of a column.
- Move a task: drag the card to another column. Or use the โฏ menu on the card and choose Move to.
- With the keyboard: press Tab to reach a card, Space to pick it up, the arrow keys to move it, and Space to drop it.
- Open a task: click its title to change details, assign people or set a due date.
Cards show the due date (in red when overdue) and who's assigned.
"Waiting on" other tasks
In a task, choose Waiting on to list tasks that should be finished first. The card shows Waiting until they're done. You can still move it if your team decides to go ahead; we'll just remind you.
Milestones
Use the Milestones tab for key points such as "Design sign-off". For fixed-price work, enter the amount to bill. When a milestone is done, choose โฏ โ Mark complete. Completed billable milestones will be ready to invoice. Once a milestone has been invoiced, it can't be changed.
Who sees money
Budget amounts and milestone amounts are only shown to people whose role can see rates. Everyone on the project sees the hours budget and tasks.
