Company details for India

What to enter for PAN, GSTIN, state and Udyam, and why each one matters.

These details are printed on your invoices and decide how GST is charged. You'll need your PAN and, if you're registered, your GST registration certificate.

Are you registered for GST?

  • Yes: enter your GSTIN. We'll add the correct GST to every invoice automatically.
  • No: your invoices won't show GST at all. If you register later, come back here and switch it on.

GSTIN

Your 15-character GST number, for example 27AAACM1234K1ZN. It's on your registration certificate (Form REG-06).

When you type a valid GSTIN, we fill in your PAN and state from it, because the GSTIN already contains them:

Characters Meaning
1โ€“2 Your state code (27 = Maharashtra)
3โ€“12 Your PAN
13โ€“15 Registration number and a check character

If we say the GSTIN "doesn't match", it's almost always a typing mistake. Copy it again from the certificate.

Regular or Composition scheme?

Most businesses are on the Regular scheme. Choose Composition only if you opted for it; you then issue a Bill of Supply instead of a tax invoice, and don't charge GST.

State

The state of your registered office decides which GST applies:

  • Client in the same state: CGST + SGST (half each).
  • Client in a different state: IGST.

If you have offices in other states with their own GSTINs, you'll be able to add them under Offices in a later release.

Annual turnover

Your total turnover across India last financial year. It decides how many digits of HSN/SAC code your invoices need and whether e-invoicing applies to you. You can leave it blank for now.

Udyam registration (optional)

If you're a registered micro, small or medium enterprise, add your Udyam number, like UDYAM-MH-01-0012345. We'll print it on your invoices and, later, flag buyers who pay you later than the 45 days the MSMED Act allows.
