Tax rules require issued invoices to stay exactly as they were sent. So in MSMEPulse:
- Drafts can be edited or deleted freely.
- Issued invoices can't be edited or deleted. You correct them with a credit or debit note linked to the original.
Charged too much, or agreed a discount: credit note
- Open the invoice and click Credit note.
- For each line, enter how much to take off before tax, or click All of it.
- Choose why, and add details if you like. They're printed on the credit note.
- Click Issue credit note. It gets its own number, for example
CN/26-27/0002.
GST comes off at the invoice's own rates and place of supply. The credit first reduces what the client still owes. If they'd already paid, the rest is owed back to them: pay it, then open the credit note and click Record refund.
India: a credit note can only reduce GST if it's dated on or before 30 November after the invoice's financial year. MSMEPulse shows the last date and stops you after it.
Charged too little: debit note (India)
Open the invoice and click Debit note. Add what should have been charged. The debit note is a separate amount for the client to pay, numbered like DN/26-27/0001. You can email it, share a pay link and record payments against it, just like an invoice. In Singapore, issue a new invoice for the extra amount instead.
Cancel it completely
If the whole invoice was wrong (wrong client, raised twice), click Cancel this invoice and say why. A credit note for the full amount is issued, and the invoice's time and milestones become billable again so you can issue a corrected one. You can only cancel an invoice with no payments and no other credit or debit notes.
Credit and debit notes go to Tally, Zoho Books and Xero with your other documents. Find them all under Invoices โ Credit and debit notes.
